Company

Photonion GmbH was founded in 2009 as a spin-off from Helmholtz Zentrum München. Photonion is collaborating very strongly with the „Joint Mass Spectrometry Centre“ – JMSC from the University of Rostock (Chair of Analytical Chemistry/Lehrstuhl für Analytische Chemie) and the Helmholtz Zentrum München. The goal of Photonion is to develop new analytical devices based on mass spectrometric methods in order to be able to directly analyze complex organic gases, liquids or solid materials. Potential applications include process control at a coffee roasting plant or in plastics production, the analysis of cigarette smoke or crude oil, and the detection and determination of fine dust contamination.

The headquarter of Photonion is located in Schwerin (Germany). 
The research and development division is situated in Munich.
